Ouch! Blame it on the immediacy of the blogging medium!

In our fervent effort to get the "Google-deletes-its-own-blog" story out early, I hastily posted the headline with an extraneous apostrophe.

And, true to the reputation of bloggers and the aforementioned fast-paced nature of the medium -- I got called on it. Quickly.

Ouch! Via the beauty of RSS, our grammatically imperfect post title was streamed across desktops around the world. And I, an English Major and occasional contributor to GrammarHell, am still smarting from the comment sent in by a fellow blogger. (Whose blog I'll be scanning obsessively for grammatical errors. Petty, I know...but I'm only human.)

Lesson learned: PROOFREAD. Always, always proofread.

PS - did you know that TypePad's spellchecker doesn't recognize the word "blogger?" Ironic, much?

Google Deletes Its Own Blog - By Mistake

They may be poised for world domination, but that doesn't mean they can't make a stupid mistake from time to time!

Today, Google accidentally deleted its own blog:

Update: We've determined the cause of tonight's outage. The blog was mistakenly deleted by us (d'oh!) which allowed the blog address to be temporarily claimed by another user. This was not a hack, and nobody guessed our password. Our bad.

Thanks to Randy for the tip!

relevantNOISE will be joining us for Blog Webinar

relevantNOISE's Lori Arnold will be joining us for our Business Blog Webinar next week.  Don't know who relevantNOISE is? Do you live under a rock?? Kidding. Here's the company description:

relevantNOISE™ is a technology company dedicated to mining web logs, or blogs, for business intelligence. Using proprietary data mining, natural language processing, and tone extraction technologies, relevantNOISE helps clients monitor the quickly growing "blogosphere" in real time to track the level of volume around key topic areas -- including industry, brands, products, executives, and competitors. The company further assists clients by determining whether those conversations are positive or negative and how that changes over time.

Here's some info about Lori Arnold. And I can personally attest to the fact that she's really smart, really cool, and an excellent speaker. (Lori, you owe me lunch.)

Free Webinar: Secrets to a Successful Business Blog Strategy

DigitalGrit Webinars are back!  Last year's SEO & Blogs webinar was such a hit, we thought we'd do another one on Business Blogs. So here's the skinny:

"Talking & Listening: Secrets to a Successful Business Blog Strategy"

Wednesday, April 5, 2006
1:00PM Eastern, 10:00AM Pacific

...here's a bit of the marketing shpiel....

By listening to blogs in and around your market, you can learn what others are talking about, what your consumers' key concerns are, and what your competitors are saying in response to those concerns. Armed with this knowledge, you’re informed well enough to offer original and intelligent insight to the conversation — instead of just adding to the noise.

So if you're a marketer wondering whether or not you ought to be concerned with blogs, this is for you. And it's free. And you'll get a free transcript (including all the slides, graphs and charts we use in the webinar).

Come to think of it...can't come up with a single reason why you shouldn't register!
