I love harrassing the new kids at DG, so I had to jump on the opportunity to interview Matthew Rogers, the latest addition to our Project Management team. I hardly see Matt, since he's in another building, but I was dying to know what he thought of DG at this early stage. (He's only been here a few weeks. I doubt he even knows where the pens are kept at this point!)
I know you're the newest of the newbies of DigitalGrit, but what do you think so far?
I am impressed with the overall work ethic and dedication at DigitalGrit. First and foremost I wanted to work with nice and talented people and I believe that I have found that here. I look at the opportunity at DG and I get very excited. I think that there is tremendous potential to make an impact here.
You're in the Lab, which is where all the magic really happens (it's where the tech team and project management live). It's also the original and coolest DigitalGrit space (I think, anyway). How do you like it down there?
It is a great space with a lot of character. It is clean (which is very high on my priority list) and no cubicles! I have been put in some awful spots through my career. On the flipside, I have been in some great spots also. It is very important to feel comfortable in your work environment and I can definitely say that I am pleased with the Lab. It promotes learning, productivity, and fun at the same time.
How are you adjusting to your new job? Do you feel overloaded and stressed, are you pretty much enjoying the new digs, did your last job suck so badly that McDonald's would have been close to paradise -- or are you somewhere in between?
I am enjoying the new job a lot. I do not feel overloaded or stressed right now. Maybe I will be next week as I am assigned more tasks!
My past Production and Project Management experience has been more along the lines of scoping, designing, developing and deploying websites. I am very excited to learn more about E-Marketing and the science behind SEO and SEM. I have learned so much in only three weeks and have been brought along at a very good pace. I was not "thrown to wolves" as they say and given unrealistic goals.
I have a family and all of the extra things like benefits, hours, and just plain understanding what goes into having a family has been a very good experience so far. DigitalGrit was not rated #1 mid-size company to work for in NJ for nothing. People seem happy to be here and excited about what the future holds. I came on board for many different reason and so far DG has exceeded my expectations.
Finally, what are your a) favorite and b) least favorite thing about working at DG?
Favorite = The people here at DG (Corny, I know but it's the truth). They are very nice and open to questions which is key to any new employee ramping up in the beginning.
Least Favorite = Nothing notable. Check back with me in a month! Ha!
Again, I *swear* I didn't pay him, threaten him, or otherwise coerce him to say all that nice stuff. This really is a great place to work. And to prove it, here's a link to an article from yesterday's Daily Record ...
